Hollywood, White Supremacy, and Me: A Workshop for Allies in Media + Entertainment

CIME is offering this program to industry creators and change makers who want to be better allies and use entertainment media as a tool for change.

Based on their celebrated keynote at the 2019 Visionary Summit, “Re-Shaping Hollywood’s Diverse Future,” CIME co-founders Dr. Nicole Haggard and Joy Donnell will facilitate this program with three core goals:

HWSM.png
  1. Heal. Reframe your thinking around diversity and Hollywood.

  2. Rise. Do the work to explore your own relationship to white supremacy and use anti-racism in your personal and professional life.

  3. Create. Our narrative arts advance society. How to use intersectional storytelling as a solution for societal change.

Media Matters. Hollywood's diversity and inclusion issues aren't just about individual bias; racism is a systemic problem built into our industry that is reflected in our workplaces and what appears on screen. Real change requires addressing the structure of the system and institutional betrayal while also doing our own inner work.

Join us to reshape your relationship to these issues by unraveling Hollywood's hidden history of regulating the representation of race and gender. While we explore this history you will also unpack your own relationship with whiteness and learn to advance your anti-racism skills.

This pivotal moment in history is reiterating how much media matters. Our stories shape our beliefs. Our beliefs shape our reality. This workshop will help you tap the work you need to do in order to authentically show up as an ally.
